Writing a quote clients sign straight away

Structure, tone and follow-up for a quote that does not disappear in a drawer.

The structure

A good quote is short and clear:

  • What you will do, step by step.
  • What it costs, split per part.
  • When you can start.
  • What the client arranges themselves.

Tone

Write the way you speak. No jargon the client does not know, no small print hiding the important part.

Offer a choice

Give two or three options: basic, complete and extended. Clients then choose between options instead of between you and another company.

Follow up

Call after three days. Most jobs go to the company that calls back first.
